Filming in Dumfries and Galloway?
We’re here to help you make your filming experience as smooth as possible
Here’s what you need to know:
Firstly, you’ll need permission from Dumfries and Galloway council to film on any roads, buildings and public areas owned or managed by the council. If you are filming on private land you do not need any permission from the council.
To apply, Download the Filming Application Form, you can find it here or via the button below.
You will need to provide the following information.
- Production Company: (Your company name)
- Name of Production: (Title of your film project)
- Contact: (Your name, phone number, and email address)
- Crew Size: (Number of people involved in filming)
- Filming Locations: (List all specific locations where you plan to film)
- Dates: (Start and end dates of your filming schedule)
- Shoot schedule: (Provide a detailed schedule of your filming activities)
- Public Liability insurance certificate
- Risk Assessment
- Drone Filming (Yes or No): (Indicate if you plan to use a drone)
- Locations: Take off and Landing points: (Specify designated drone take-off and landing locations)
- Make/ Type of Drone/Weight: (Provide details about your drone)
- Pilots Details
- Operator Registration Certificate (O.R.C.) Number
- Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Operational Authorisation details
- Public Liability Insurance details for the drone pilot
Submitting the Form: Once you’re done, submit the form by sending it to dumgal@bgateway.com
We will contact you about filming with any conditions that apply to the permission
Should you require to stop, block or displace traffic or parking then the separate permission should be sought from the Road Network Team roadnetworkteam@dumgal.gov.uk Any permission granted does not constitute approval to use traffic management.
