Business Growth Grant – 2025

This discretionary grant fund is designed to support the growth of existing businesses within the first 3 years of trading. Whether you’re aiming to create new jobs, reduce energy usage, or move towards net zero carbon emissions, this grant can provide the financial boost you need.
What Is Available
- Grants from £5,000 – 20,000
- Minimum Project spend is £10k ex VAT
- Up to 50% of eligible project costs covered (excluding VAT)
- Payment upon evidence of approved expenditure
Eligible Projects
You can apply for funding for a variety of projects, including:
- Capital Equipment: Invest in new machinery or specially adapted vehicles.
- Consultancy Support: Develop an international marketing strategy or create bespoke business software/IT systems.
- Digital Development: Purchase industry-specific software, cover app development costs, or upgrade your IT hardware.
- Exhibition Support: Get help with costs for domestic or overseas trade shows and industry exhibitions.
- Infrastructure Improvement: Make net zero adaptations or expand/convert your office or workspace.
- Training Support: Improve skill levels in your business to boost productivity and efficiency.
Are You Eligible?
To qualify, your business must:
- Not be a previous recipient of the grant
- Be a existing business, Sole-trader, Partnership, or Limited Company, includes social enterprises, within the first 3 years of trading.
- Operate from dedicated commercial premises registered for Non Domestic Rates with Dumfries and Galloway Council.
- Be a micro, small, or medium-sized enterprise as defined by the Companies Act 2006.
- Have a turnover above the current VAT threshold or expect to reach at least £90,000 within 12 months of application.
- Aim to create jobs or increase turnover by 10%, or work towards a net zero plan within 12 months.
